Complementary Sequence Defined

A sequence of bases that can form a double-stranded structure by matching base pairs. The complementary sequence to G-T-A-C, for instance, is C-A-T-G. Cytosine (C): A base; one of the molecular compon ents of DNA and RNA. Always bonds with guanine (C-G).

Genome-Wide Screen Turns Up Primate-Specific Genes

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – In a paper scheduled to appear online this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , researchers from the Genome Institute of Singapore and Wayne State University used a genome-wide screen to try to fish out primate-specific sequences in the human genome.

BC Team's Tag-Seq Protocol Reduces Costs and Improves Throughput of LongSAGE, Complements RNA-Seq

Researchers from the Genome Sciences Centre at the British Columbia Cancer Agency have added a new method, Tag-seq, to the rapidly growing list of applications for next-generation sequencers that already includes genome sequencing, methylation analysis, RNA-seq, and ChIP-seq.
